This course provides an introduction to views of learning mathematics, an overview of approaches to teaching secondary (grades 612) mathematics, and prepares students for a credential program. It is intended for undergraduate mathematics, science, engineering, or environmental studies majors who are considering becoming mathematics teachers.
This course fulfills a W requirement, is part of the Subject Matter Waiver Program for Secondary Mathematics, and is an elective in the Minor in Education. For more information contact Dr. Judit Moschkovich jmoschko@cats.ucsc.edu, call 459-2004, or come to the first class meeting.
Mathematics Students participating in Community Teaching Fellowship in Math
and Science Program (CFTMS) are required to take EDUC 185B: Introduction to
Teaching Mathematics.
