A survey designed to introduce several music cultures from Asia. Focus on understanding and appreciating the musical styles, the performance practices, and the cultural functions of music and dance in the Orient. Performance in a related music culture is strongly recommended and may be satisfied by concurrent enrollment in course 5A, 5B, 5C, or 8, as available.
