The course is organized as a survey of major authors, genres and periods of Italian literature, ranging from the poetry of Dante and his contemporaries, to the operas of Verdi, the short stories of modern women writers, and the comic theater of the twentieth century.

The course is designed as a small seminar with plenty of opportunity for student writing and speaking. Readings and assignments conducted in Italian. Class conducted in Italian.
