Placement Exams
Language placement exams are necessary for students who have not passed
the prerequisite UCSC course. Students do not take a placement exam when
enrolling at level 1 in a language they have never studied, EXCEPT FOR
SPANISH. Students must take the placement exam to gain entry into Spanish
level 1. Students who have had language instruction prior to UCSC must
take the placement exam if they intend to continue study in that language.
ARABIC LANGUAGE
No placement exam is required for Arabic 1.

Begin Fall Enrollment Process at Summer Orientation
Summer Orientation is your opportunity to receive early academic advising, enroll in courses, meet other new students and learn about campus resources and services at UC Santa Cruz, and get answers to your questions from faculty, staff, and continuing students. Students who attend Summer Orientation will have the option of beginning the fall 2006 enrollment process.
To attend a Summer Orientation program, you must make a reservation by mail. A reservation form is included in the Summer Orientation Reservation Brochure, which is mailed to all new first-year and transfer students who have returned their Statement of Intent to Register to Admissions.
